As a death historian, I feel like I'm going *mad* watching the United States stumble through a mass death event, pushing aside elderly folks & poor folks & people of color in pursuit of normalcy, summertime, & instant gratification.— Leah Richier (@CallMeRichier) May 24, 2020
We are utterly grotesque. This is horrifying.
As a historian of cultural memory? I can see the mechanism for *forgetting* (normalizing, individualizing these deaths and the structure of who matters/is remembered) going on in real time and its making me nuts. The goal is to *forget.*— Dr. G. A. Adams (@522GAdams) May 24, 2020

is this what the concept of a “nuclear family” was all about?
Actual question.
I don’t remember seeing any old folks, weak folks, or “colored” folks in those classic advertisements. Lots of summer and choice and gratification.
And a way of seeing it graphically.
