On abortion and “cancel culture:” no. Just: no. On the issue of American Christendom and American Christianity (two terms that often appear alike): what was your first clue? That Jerry Falwell, Jr. was not his dad? Did he ever pretend to be? Jr. never pretended to be a religious leader.

And Sr. never pretended not to be the racist he was. What was that about A. Xianity and A. Xendom? ‘Cause I think Dr. King pegged that problem as early as 1963. Sr. led the offensive against the Rev. Dr. King’s efforts by opposing Brown v Board and school desegregation.

And the conversation about race has become so toxic that even open-hearted inquiry about systemic injustice and deep exploration of ideas for addressing centuries of racial oppression lead to accusations of "wokeness" with some calling for the "woke" to be cast out of church. /9

As I was saying, so was Sr.’s. Feature, not bug. The entire raison d’etre of Liberty University, in fact: to raise up generations of Jerry Falwells.

I mean, their goal certainly wasn’t to implement Dr. King’s letter, or create a more integrated and just society.
