This is such a terrible take on so many levels—including the breezy assumption that the most important question about 1/6 is how it plays *politically.*

That attitude—that all that matters is who’s up and who’s down—is a big part of how we got to this abyss in the first place. https://t.co/sfbj2qRNzc
The 62% of Americans who don't want Trump to run for president again is an oft-overlooked stat https://t.co/FIx4K40lrl

Yeah, nothing to see here. Besides: democracy! Fragility! Something really scary!!Former Pres. Trump “crossed lines no American president has ever crossed before,” GOP Rep. Liz Cheney says.

Yeah, and it's probably not going to be. Odds are you could have polled 12% who wanted Nixon instated instantly in '63. Or Goldwater, in '66. Clinton? Fuggedaboutit! More than 12% wanted Reagan back; for 8 years. If I may riff off @greatdismal’s classic quote, “The new Civil War is here; it’s just not evenly distributed yet.”

I'm tempted to totally ignore the elections until the day after the election, that's the only poll that counts, though the Republican-fascists will try to prevent that from counting. I'm fed up with the junk that substitutes for reporting in this country. Polling is pseudo-science, punditry isn't even that.
