My father died at 90 in 2016. He enlisted in the Navy when he turned 18. By the time he was through with training, the war had ended, so he never saw combat.2/ Looked at from another perspective the peak demographic of WW2 vets wld likely be men who turned 20 in 1940. They would be 102.

Still, he was a veteran for purposes of getting a VA paid grave plaque.
So, yeah. I mean, he was about as close to the edge of that "generation" as you could be.
