The Thomas Achord story is a tedious replay of a now-familiar parable:
— Popehat (@Popehat) December 1, 2022
1. Person whose bigotry consistently goes to 9 is accused of having gone to 11
2. Confederates yell it is NOT CREDIBLE that a level 9 bigot could say level 11 bigot things and it’s cancel culture to say so
/1
No slight on Popehat because I accept this as satire, not reasoned sociological commentary (which would actually be more satirical), but I'm fascinated with the generally accepted concept that there are "degrees" of bigotry/racism.5. Level 20 bigots hanging out with the level 9 and 11 bigots spend this entire time yelling HE DIDN’T GO FAR ENOUGH

6. Bigot’s confederates discuss the Real Issues this reveals: intolerance of differing views, lack of charity and forgiveness, race realist imperatives
I mean, is there some kind of sliding scale we can reference for how much racism or anti-semitism or bigotry is too much? And logically, how much is acceptable? I get that not wanting your daughter to marry one is not quite as bad as seeking the extermination of an entire people, but is that really a substantive and necessary distinction?Kanye's new interview is well beyond even antisemitism. It's pure Nazism.
