Just heard one on air commentator say that Jeffries will get more votes on this first vote that he will be at least temporarily Speaker. That's not true. It has to be an absolute majority of those voting for a specific person. They have to vote to change the rules to plurality.

Sound analysis, though I'm not sure what "fight" I'm in now. I've lived in Texas almost all my life. Most of the Texas House members are insane (Dan Crenshaw is slowly discovering that. It's like watching a child learn about the realities of the world.). They get elected by insane people. I guarantee you there's not a damned thing I can do about it. Except watch it burn. Forget about watering the tree of liberty with blood; every now and again we gotta mulch the ashes of lunacy in order to keep growing the nursery of democracy. Or something. Maybe every 100 years we have to go through this.  Maybe it's cyclical and we just haven't been around long enough to see it more than once.  "They gyres!  They gyres!  Old Rocky Face, look forth!"  Yeah, I'm not so sure about that theory.
