Conservatives Are Holding Onto McCarthy Opposition

The fourth roll call, vote — first of the day — just started, but Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) already has seven votes cast for him.

As a reminder, if McCarthy loses more than four Republican votes he will fall under the 218 votes he needs to become the new House speaker.

So, ballot four will likely end with no conclusion on who the speaker will be once again.

McCarthy Offers A Thumbs Up As His Fourth Try Fails

He gamely smiled as some in the chamber applauded after he voted for himself.


Honestly, that's all he has to offer his party or his country.  This is falling quickly and securely on his shoulders.

Rep. Donalds name was put into nomination, and he voted for himself. McCarthy is turning this process into his walk of shame. And Trump is going down with McCarthy: Those of us at home do, too. 🍿 And the lagniappe:
