Basically, because Greg Abbott thinks Border Patrol is not doing its job to secure the border, he is interfering physically with their ability to access the border and do their job of protecting the border. An overnight filing by DOJ at #SCOTUS in the concertina wire case lays out Texas’s rather stunning escalation of its efforts to interfere with federal immigration authorities along the US-Mexico border.

Whatever you think of current policy, this is nuts:https://t.co/CgWy3mtMBv pic.twitter.com/JPjpqTdtoC
Which makes as much sense as U.S. Representatives and Senators complaining about border policy without doing anything to pass legislation on border policy. Except visiting the border for photo ops is not actively preventing Border Patrol from doing its job.
Greg Abbott got this law passed so he could “protect” the border, but he won’t allow Texas schools to be fully funded, because the Legislature won’t let him spend public funds on private schools. But the majority of Texas voters still think it’s better to have Republicans in charge, than to elect Democrats.
The whole thing is nuts. π₯
