"By the power vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, I have determined that the current situation at the southern border qualifies as an invasion under Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution of the United States."

Welp...Let me just stop and say: if Trump truly attempts to shut down the border, he’s going to lose Texas.
Abbott tried to decrease immigration by increasing inspections of commercial vehicles at the border. It didn’t go over well. He rescinded the policy quickly and tried to blame Biden (this was 2022) for its failure. Who will Trump blame?
Same thing if he raises tariffs on Mexico by 25%, especially if Mexico retaliates.
Mexico is Texas’ largest trading partner. Texas needs them.Reporter: How do you see our relationship with Latin America and Brazil?

Trump: Great. They need us much more than we need them. We don't need them, they need us. Everybody needs us. pic.twitter.com/5Su6PaUUTr
Texas is also one of the largest suppliers of wind power, much of it in cherry-red West Texas and the Panhandle, where leases for those windmills is not a small part of a ranchers income. They also rely heavily on immigrant labor. They won’t suddenly become yellow dog Democrats; but they will quickly figure out who to blame.
And does all this loose employment of “invasion” mean Trump will call the coming bird flu pandemic an invasion from Canada? Or South America? 🐦 It’ll be as useful as what he did for Covid.
