Just Stop ✋

 For the love of God:

The Washington Post editorial this morning essentially equating Biden's questionable pardons with Trump's outrageous Jan. 6 pardons was unconscionable. The newspaper I've been part of for 48 years has utterly lost its soul.
There are so many ways to say that argument is wrong.

First, Biden’s pardons are questionable only if you don’t pay attention to Trump’s insistence on the importance of retribution (“I am your retribution!”), or his pardons of people who fought for Trump’s re-election, and whose violence he has excused (as recently as 24 hours ago) because they were merely protesting the election. Or the years long harassment of his son Hunter merely because he was Biden’s son, and Trump’s promise (again, only 24 hours ago) to put Biden through what Trump went through for four years. Not because Biden committed crimes (as Trump did), but just for…retribution.

Are you picking up on a theme here?

Biden couldn’t pardon himself; and he arguably has immunity; and the House already tried to investigate Biden, based on conspiracy theories and a now convicted liar. True, none of that will get you into court for more than five minutes; but investigations alone can be financially crippling. If Biden can protect his family from that, I don’t think he really cares what the WaPo editorial board thinks. Nor should he.

But equating that with a man who just overturned more than 1000 trials and court decisions in an absolutely unprecedented and indefensible act sure to lead to a constitutional amendment on the pardon power? An act of unconscionable selfishness and hubris?

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME???!!!
