"All Records Broken!"

Trump will be in North Carolina tonight:

He is set to make a speech before the North Carolina Republican Party convention, kicking off what's likely to be a spree of summer campaigning. It will be his first public speech since his address at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February.

Pardon me if I think "likely to be" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.

"We know exactly what he's going to say — the election was rigged, stolen," said Doug Heye, a former Republican National Committee spokesman and North Carolina native. "He'll tease running for president again. 'Wouldn't you love me to run again? Well, I'm thinking about it. ...' And he'll take shots at those who voted to impeach" him and criticized him.

Wait for it...

Trump's choice of venue to kick off his campaigning is something of a soft launch. Doing it this way doesn't have the pressure of creating a scene and crowd that a traditional rally would have.

"That Trump is doing a state party convention makes sense," Heye said. "It's a controlled environment and doesn't risk the empty seats he could have at a rally — no more football stadiums."

But Trump will soon be trying to hold those large rallies again. He's expected to hit the road with two rallies reportedly in the next month, with more to come later this summer in an effort to boost both allies and challengers to Republican incumbents who have spoken out against him.

Hmmm...wonder where those will be?  Not Tulsa, I'm sure.

I remain one who says "I'll believe it when I see it."  After all, Trump is the one announcing these rallies.  He's already announced this speech in North Carolina will leave "all records broken!"  He also announced a platform that would be the focal point of all social media.  The furthest he got was a blog he shuttered in 29 days.  Mike Lindell, Trump's Mini-Me, made similar claims for "Frank."  Now Lindell is universally regarded as an easy mark, the most vulnerable prey of con-men and unethical lawyers (like the one who lost his job for Lindell, because the suit he filed was so worthless.  One wonders if the firm is refunding Lindell's money.).  Oddly, still no one wants to recognize Trump as the nation's foremost con-man.  But we persist in having standards for former President's that really should be earned, not granted.

I think Trump wants to avoid Tulsa redux at all costs, and if he gets one, he'll run home to Bedford or Mar-A-Lago and not be heard from for some time.  Oh, elected GOP officials will still tremble at the sound of his name, but the GOP is in self-destruct mode and just waiting for the explosives to go off.

  1. I woke up to find a link to a video showing that he seems to have been wearing his pants backward during the event. At least that's what it looks like to me. Maybe they're pants marketed by his acting Atty. Gen., the one with the toilets for the over endowed man con.
