(And the surveillance balloon was allowed to fly over the US because it was too dangerous to shoot down until it got over water which is...not populated. The US did use jamming equipment to prevent it from relaying data to China. It was the safest and most responsible thing to do. Although the government has the capacity, right? They could have dropped it on Mastriano's house, I guess.)
