I rise to amend my previous remarks, which are incorporated in full herein by reference.
Trump is an idiot. How could I forget that?
It seems he had planned, known to all on the Hill (which excludes your humble host), to sign the law. It would also seem he decided he had “leverage” (probably because a reporter asked him yesterday if Iran had leverage over him. Yes. The answer is “Yes.”) over Congress. By holding his breath until his face turns blue.
My mistake was thinking someone around Trump had advised him on Art. I, sec. 7, cl. 2. But that’s Trump 1.0. Trump 2.0 doesn’t take advice from anyone. He knows what he knows. And he won’t be told what he doesn’t know.
And he knows nothing. Which is why he thinks he has leverage. Leverage which will evaporate before July 4. And I’m convinced no Senator is mentioning this because they want to enjoy the schadenfreude of Trump finding out holding his breath until he gets what he wants is…not leverage.
Don’t let him see this. Don’t interrupt the schadenfreude.
