Americans are stupid and childishly frivolous is one of the most beloved of ideas in the alleged news media, I must have heard it scores of times in the past week, alone. I think the snobbery of the kind of people who get jobs in the media is a driving force in our country and I think it's about as untrue as the other myths they love so much, "heartland" being one of those which has seemed to fade a bit.
ReplyDeleteWe will see. I wouldn't predict how this will come out in its ultimate revelation in the elections next year. If the Republicans aren't crushed in them, American democracy is finished. If they are, it lives on another while. The media will continue to try to debase and disinform The People till it works and their owners and bosses rule.
