The content of the tweet could be alarming in some circles: "OMG! BLIND PIG FINDS ACORNS FROM WHICH MIGHTY OAKS WILL GROW! WE'RE DONE FOR! WE'RE DONE FOR!" But read the article instead.New: Republicans on the three House committees have settled on "four key pieces of evidence" that they claim will undermine Democrats' arguments for why the president should be impeached, according to staff memo sent to committee members Monday night. https://t.co/Q4bJsTo54i— Jonathan Swan (@jonathanvswan) November 12, 2019
What the GOP calls "evidence" is primarily "Read the transcript!" And if that were absolutely the only evidence for impeachment, they might have a point. It isn't, of course.
Forget the transcript (or read it later), read the article. If the GOP defense can be knocked down in an Axios article (i.e., something slightly longer than the average tweet), the GOP is right to fear the Jim Jordan clown show. That's all anyone is going to remember.
"In about 40 hours the public phase of the impeachment proceedings into Donald J. Trump will commence. There's no shortage of damaging new testimony from a parade of witnesses who have already delivered closed-door depositions..." - @NicolleDWallace pic.twitter.com/oySqyu4g2W— Deadline White House (@DeadlineWH) November 11, 2019
