The Myth of Fingerprints

The article gets kind of close to my point:

Combine this with the very strange and shifting explanations about the laptop, the data, and the timing involved in this provenance, and the potential for dirty tricks looks rather large. Until this data gets fully authenticated by an outside agency — hopefully the FBI, which reportedly has the laptop — the earlier reporting isn’t reliable, and this manipulative story doesn’t do much to boost the Post’s credibility either.

The hard drive itself hasn't even been authenticated yet.  An anonymous person drops of a water-damaged computer, and never retrieves it, and it just happens to have e-mails from Hunter Biden on it.  Which, of course, can't possibly be faked!  I mean, e-mails are like fingerprints, right?

I understand the FBI is investigating this computer and this story as a counter-intelligence concern, and as foreign interference in U.S. elections.  Nothing about it should be considered valid, except that the computer exists.  We certainly shouldn't accept that any e-mail referred to in any story about this "October Surprise" is authentic, nor authenticated.

Courts have rules of evidence for a reason.  And there's no evidence anything in this "story" is anything but a story.  A fiction, IOW.

Not that, otherwise, this makes a groat's worth of difference to the world.

  1. I very much doubt that anyone with Hunter Biden's wealth would drop off allegedly water damaged Apple computers at a small indy shop because the company makes it very difficult to get what you need to repair them. There are a few specialty shops that specialize in it this guy doesn't strike me as bright enough to do it. Especially as he's claiming - among his shifting stories - that he couldn't say it was Hunter Biden who dropped it off due to bad eyesight. I think they found some nutcase who spends a lot of pro-Trump online time and set him up to be a fantasy hero and the dope fell for it.

That said, I hope if his father becomes president Hunter Biden takes four years off of this kind of bull shit to avoid becoming even more of a problem for him.

  2. "Hunter Biden" is going to be an invention of the far right for the next four years, of that I am certain.

He hasn't even been a public figure when his father was in the Naval Observatory, and yet Trump & Co. invented him. I think the only thing they got right is the name.
