Tinkering

I keep remembering when Phil Gramm, then a U.S. senator from Texas, ran for President. He had national cred for a few then extremely right wing laws carrying his name (or was it only one? This was in the 80’s, gimme a break! Am I gonna research every little damned thing for you?), so he was a known quantity in New Hampshire in a crowded field.

He didn’t last long. Reports were he met with ardent supporters but he was so personally repellent his aides had to usher them quickly from the room. They met their hero, and they were disgusted. Voters in New Hampshire found out why Texas sent him to Washington every six years.

Anyway, he flamed out quickly.

Trump hated retail politics, too, and pretty much didn’t do it. Biden, like Bill Clinton, LOVES that shit.

I really don’t think the GOP can field a candidate worth a tinker’s damn.
