I don’t think it’s a head fake. Trump has raised some huge contributions. But I don’t think donors see paying Trump’s lawyers as equivalent to getting Trump elected, especially since the damage before the election has been done. I am amazed that campaign finance laws are so lax as to allow financing someone's criminal defense as a legitimate campaign expense.
