Both Greenland And Denmark are NATO Countries

Trump: I am pleased to announce that the US has entered into an Agreement with The Kingdom of Denmark, and Greenland, that gives the US permanent control over security, and all other needs, in Greenland, completely addressing ALL of our many U.S. concerns.

We worked with representatives of Denmark and Greenland to guarantee that the United States will FOREVER have the complete ability to do what is necessary in Greenland in order to secure and defend the security of Greenland, and the United States of America.
That said, this agreement seems to mean he’ll quit talking about annexing Greenland.
Løkke cautiously optimistic about Greenland agreement with U.S.

The working group between Denmark, Greenland and the United States is still active, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said after a meeting of Denmark’s Foreign Policy Committee.

Løkke said Friday that he is “cautiously optimistic” that an agreement between Denmark, Greenland and the United States can be reached.

He made the comments after briefing members of the Foreign Policy Committee on the high-level dialogue launched between the three countries in January.

However, Løkke also pointed to the experiences of other countries that have been negotiating with the United States, including the recent breakdown of trade talks between Canada and the U.S.

“I am therefore very cautious about giving a final assessment. We do not have an agreement until we have an agreement. But it is positive that we have this dialogue,” he said.

He added that he is somewhat encouraged by the talks, while acknowledging that any agreement would ultimately require approval from the U.S. president.

According to Løkke, a final agreement must respect Greenland’s and Denmark’s red lines while addressing what he described as legitimate U.S. security concerns.

The foreign minister said there was no significant new information regarding when the working group might reach a conclusion.

In June, Løkke said he expected a solution to be reached before the end of the year.

If there is a formal agreement, it is most likely another amendment to the 1951 agreement giving the U.S. military access to Greenland as a NATO partner. But Trump is vainglorious, and must treat every accomplishment as an unprecedented victory.

Maybe it will shut him up about acquiring Greenland, anyway.

    People talk about him as though he's a particularly ill-tempered toddler. More and more I think of him as that guy on the plane who just makes such a scene of himself that eventually the crew and some passengers duct tape him to his seat and into silence.
