Bernie Bros and Trump Supporters

Two peas in a pod:

“He was in Congress for years. He had one senator support him. Nobody likes him, nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done. He was a career politician. It’s all just baloney and I feel so bad that people got sucked into it,” Clinton reportedly says in the docuseries, as The Hollywood Reporter reveals during an interview with the former U.S. Secretary of State.

I cannot, for the life of me, slip a piece of paper between Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump on this issue.  What, in all his political career, has Bernie Sanders done to advance the cause of socialism in America?  He may run his Presidential campaign on that platform, he might even win the White House on it (I don't think so; then again, I didn't think Donald Trump would win the White House).  If he does, what then?  Who in the Democratic House or Democratic Senate (presuming he gets one) would go to bat for his goals?  Sanders won't win with a stranglehold on the Democratic primaries that Trump has on the GOP primaries.  How will he govern?  What will he accomplish?

For all the screaming for 8 years that Obama should screw the GOP and do what he wanted, Obama got quite a bit accomplished.  Trump has passed a massive tax cut, which pretty much cost him the House (make your own causal connections to why the Dems won the House; one explanation is honestly as good as another.  Most of the Dems I know who won ran against Trump, one way or another.  That seems to have done most of the heavy lifting in 2016, but in truth, who can say?).  Trump is determined to do it his way or the highway, and he has slowly learned in office that he can't rule by divine fiat, the way he ran his privately held companies.  But has he learned to work with Congress?  Will he ever learn?

And what, in the final years of his long life, has Bernie Sanders learned about cooperation and working within a system of government?  Hillary has a point there.
