My general impression is not that Trump defended himself so much as he retweeted GOP figures (Cruz, Blackburn, Gym Jordan) and the GOP itself, to make sure the bubble around him is as impenetrable as possible. Stuff like this:Trump breaks his own Twitter record with 132 tweets or retweets as of 4:45 p.m., the most of any single day of his presidency, as he defended himself and lashed out at the House managers.— Peter Baker (@peterbakernyt) January 22, 2020
Which is where I remind you Ted Cruz, in his first run for Senate, included in his platform his opposition to Agenda 21, wherein the UN was going to take away all our golfs. (I am not making this up.) He removed that particular position immediately upon winning the election; but clearly conspiracy theories are still near and dear to his heart.1. The notion the most corrupt POTUS in modern history has good faith concerns about corruption is absurd, & pushing it means you're an unserious person.— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) January 22, 2020
2. POTUS could investigate using domestic agencies, but instead he secretly tried to extort a vulnerable foreign govt. https://t.co/fuCWSTkrL4
Then again, the Davos press conference was a clue Trump was impervious to information not of his own making.
Conservative lawyer George Conway says the impeachment trial is “a very specific day of reckoning” for Republicans.
