The Power Of Incumbency

I know there are rampant theories why Trump got 70 million votes but I keep returning to this: voters always prefer the status quo. John Cornyn ran on a paltry set of accomplishments in his political ads (if he’d done more for Texans he’d surely have said), yet he was re-elected. Ted Cruz has done nothing for Texas, and Beto almost unseated him. But Cruz was the incumbent. The devil you know is always better than the devil you don’t know, even when one devil is Trump and the other is Biden.

Besides, Biden almost reached FDR’s high water mark.
