Not That Our Congressional Representation In Texas Is Any Better

The Junior Senator from Texas; and these words from my representative in Congress:

As states and cities across the country lift mask mandates and allow businesses to restore full capacity, I’m pleased we’ve made significant progress in reopening our economy and returning to normal life. But we must not forget that China’s totalitarian Chinese Communist Party allowed this disease to spread, and they must be held accountable for it.

That’s why last Congress, I introduced and cosponsored several pieces of legislation to make sure we hold China accountable for their unacceptable response to the coronavirus. To address China’s culpability in this crisis, I introduced the Holding the Chinese Communist Party Accountable for Infecting Americans Act (H.R. 6519), which would allow Americans to sue the Chinese government over damages related to the coronavirus pandemic. I also introduced the No Place for Propaganda Act (H.R. 6520), which would deny visas to CCP officials who knowingly spread disinformation concerning the origins and spread of coronavirus, disallowing these officials from coming to the United States and using the U.N. as a platform to spread their lies and propaganda.

Now, I’ve reintroduced the Holding the Chinese Communist Party Accountable for Infecting Americans Act (H.R.3984) to give Americans the power to sue the Chinese government for COVID-19 damages. China lied and tried to cover up their role in starting and spreading this global pandemic, and the world paid the price for the CCP's lies. My bill is one of Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy’s “Eight Pillars” for holding China accountable.

At best, China lied about when they knew about the virus, jailed journalists, disappeared doctors who dared to tell the truth, and failed to inform the rest of the world immediately about the pandemic. And, at worst - even though a year ago the press smeared anyone who said this as a 'conspiracy theorist' - China did all of this because they knew the virus escaped the Wuhan Institute of Virology and that they were directly responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. The evidence and common sense strongly support this conclusion, and we need a full investigation into the origins of the pandemic so we can get to the truth. But the bottom line is that China is at fault for this. People died and countless lives were destroyed, and Americans should have the right to sue the Chinese government for their role in covering up vital information which could have limited the spread of COVID.

An unprecedented pandemic emerged on their watch, and China’s CCP government acted selfishly, hoarding PPE just to benefit themselves. Far too many have lost their lives and livelihoods around the world, and we must hold the CCP responsible for this past year’s pandemic. For these reasons, I’ve taken steps to advance this necessary legislation.

That's from an e-mailed letter I received from Dan Crenshaw.  He is proudly helping Texas fight a raging pandemic that only threatens to get worse by....sanctioning China.  I would note he wants to ban Chinese propaganda, and yet he's still a frequent guest on FoxNews.

Anyway....

What this has to do with the crisis in Texas, with the rising number of hospitalizations and the shrinking number of hospital staff, I have no idea.  How this protects our children from covid (who are the front line of the next wave; the old lie that "children don't get covid" dies hard, and I'm afraid more than a few of our children will die because of it) in the classroom is not addressed.  Returning to "normal life" is, in fact, what's killing us.  But hey, the bars are open!

I've seen Alzheimer's patients more connected to reality.  I've dealt with multiple personality disorders that were more grounded in the here and now.  I'm deadly serious about this.  The GOP has become a party of sociopaths, and I don't see what they get for it.  I don't see who pays them, at the end, for killing us.  This is why we spent 18 months in lockdown?  So we could fling open the doors and say "COME AND GET US, WE'RE TIRED OF MASKS!"?
