The Ron DeSantis Award For Gross Incompetence In Governance Goes To…

Everything going according to the Governor's plan:

On Thursday afternoon, schools in the Houston area reported 9,762 active COVID-19 cases. For the first time since 13 Investigates began tracking dozens of districts on August 16, more than 2,000 cases were added since the day before. It is a 27% single-day growth rate.

A week ago schools were reporting 3,521 active cases.

Conroe and Humble school distircts lead the list.

HISD, which has a mask mandate, is still reporting a relatively small number of cases.

Thursday marks the first day that Cy-Fair, the state's third largest district, is reporting cases.

The data comes from COVID dashboards from 33 Houston-area school districts.
