...than I was in the’70’s. Is that a problem? I’m also a lot more tolerant and, I like to think, more open minded.it would frankly be strange if Biden's views hadn't evolved over the past FIFTY YEARS pic.twitter.com/AAlYhiPRpg

Granted, Biden’s older than me, but not by 20 years. He wasn’t an adult in the’70’s while I was just a dumb kid. By ‘73 I was old enough to be drafted; by ‘77 I was a college graduate and married. By 1980 I had my first graduate degree. And I still had a lot to learn, and a lot of changes in my thinking to make.
If we hadn’t both improved on our relative ignorance in 50 years, I’d be worried about us both.
Amen. Times were different, we ought to be different.
ReplyDeleteAlso, too: the "sunsetting" bill he introduced, besides being rather different than Scott's, is from his first couple years as Senator. Pat Leahy just became a Senator that January, and signed on as well. I see a lot of folks new to Congress come in trying to make some ripples in their new pond, so could be as much Rookie Syndrome (or whatever) than any particular, strongly-held principle that he would cling to for 50 years.
