While he could have gone to other locations inside Ukraine that would have been easier to access, he chose Kyiv to highlight that the capital is still standing. @MSNBC

The offensive Russia mounted against Ukraine is floundering, despite Russia having a much larger population (which they are quite willing to throw at a war). Ukraine isn’t worried about the offensive; just about running out of ammunition and weapons. Which is equal parts horrifying and hopeful.
