A) This is what Abbott is basing that on:

The letter also alleges Fox broke promises not to settle with Dominion Voting Systems "in a way which would indicate wrongdoing" on the part of Carlson and not to take any actions in a settlement that would harm Carlson's reputation.

Carlson was told by a member of the Fox board that he was taken off the air as part of the Dominion settlement, two sources briefed on the conversation told Axios.

The "letter" is Carlson's attorneys alleging a breach of contract by FoxNews so Carlson can get out of his contract (he wasn't fired, just taken off the channel) and start his new show on Twitter.  My lawyerly response is "Good luck with that," considering how long it took Dominion to get Fox to settle.  IOW, I don't expect Carlson is getting out of his contract anytime soon.

B) $787.5 million.  That's the answer to the question "why would FoxNews agree to take Carlson off the air."  If they did.  Dominion was perfectly within its rights to demand Carlson be fired but, if they did, they didn't get that into the settlement.  As I say, Carlson still works for Fox; he just isn't on the air.  That's why Carlson is claiming breach of contract; it would let him out of his non-compete agreement.

C)  Why is Abbott flapping his arms like this?

Ever since the trial evidence that Perry is a racist pedophile (the latter term is challengeable, but that's the language of MAGA, so I'm using it in that context), Abbott has been real quiet about that request for a pardon.

Abbott’s office did not respond to an Associated Press request for comment on the sentence or whether he still intends to issue a pardon. Perry, 36, could have received up to life in prison.

He's hoping everyone has forgotten he said that, and to make sure they do, he's making sure everybody knows he's keeping the elephants away. 🐘
