That’s the conclusion of a long and detailed thread that effectively demolishes a 65 page letter from Jim Jordan about, what else?  HUNTER BIDEN’S LAPTOP 💻! Emptywheel proves, again, that laptop is just a shiny object; that it’s more likely than not a Russian disinformation product (don’t take my word for it, the centerpiece here is a letter from over 50 former intel officials whose primary interest is seeing we don’t get duped by foreign governments). The thread itself is quite revealing about how incredibly stupid Jim Jordan is, a stupidity summed up with this: 65 page letter dense with factoids and out of context statements, v. a simple news report: Donald Trump guilty of sexual abuse and defamation, must pay $5 million. Jury unanimous.

Anyway, I get it.

Jim Jordan has to do something to distract from the fact that Trump was found liable for sexual assault.

It'll work, too! We can spend the day IDing which reporters are ESPECIALLY stupid.

I’m sure distracting from the Carroll verdict is Jordan’s purpose, motive, and raison d’etre. I’m also sure HUNTER BIDEN’S LAPTOP 💻! is just a shiny object to Jordan & Co. But it’s not as shiny as a jury verdict for sexual assault against a former POTUS and current candidate for POTUS.

I’m sure there are reporters stupid enough to swallow this malarkey. I think the story of Trump’s continuing legal problems is just much easier to tell.

I mean, at the very least, you don’t need 65 pages to tell it.
