Rioters came within seconds of seizing Mike Pence. Pelosi and Pence and others had security details; several Representatives and Senators just had to hide, while Capitol Police directed the crowds away from their hiding places.The Speaker has structured the select committee to satisfy her political objectives—which destroys its credibility.

Had that turned out differently; had they seized Pence or Pelosi or even a back-bencher, would the GOP still call them 'tourists'? Would McCarthy still blame Pelosi? (well, yeah, probably) Would the GOP still insist on not investigating the event, insist that bomb-throwers like Gym Jordan should be on any committee for "balance"?
There is no low these people won't sink to. Even violence on persons elected to serve, would not mean enough. "[W]hich destroys [the GOP's] credibility."
Craven McCarthy. We will see how it goes, I suspect that people will be so stunned by an uninterrupted, professional set of hearings that it will give them more credibility than the ones like the Judiciary and Intelligence hearings that the Republican-fascists sabotaged every chance they got. Who knows, maybe Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger will do something that will lead to a second party of some credibility.
