I had never considered this:

Dr. Trump said that just being in court for three hours a day is leading to her uncle "dissolving before our eyes."And I don’t think Trump has, either. A night in the cells means he comes to court the next morning, from the cells.

(And Justice Merchan’s concern is not Trump’s “martyrdom,” but whether the Appellate Division will thing jail is warranted on these facts.)
