Actually, I’m fine with that.

Taking the oath with one hand on the Bible is not a Constitutional requirement. 

It’s meant to be symbolic of the seriousness of the act, by acknowledging the oath is given in the sight of God. But it’s fairly empty symbolism these days, and in the case of Trump, virtually blasphemous.

He has no regard for God or the teachings of Jesus or for the symbolism of the Bible (at least). I don’t think he really has any regard for the oath of office.

Which makes this an appropriately symbolic act after all.
