Well, No Wonder Trump Didn’t Like The Service

The latest service had a different emphasis than previous ones. Its focus was on the nation instead of the new administration — a plan made before Election Day.
“We are in a unique moment in our country’s history, and it is time to approach this differently,” said the Very Rev. Randy Hollerith, dean of the Episcopal cathedral, in an October statement. “This will be a service for all Americans, for the well-being of our nation, for our democracy.”
The texts and songs revolved around themes of compassion and togetherness, including a reading from Deuteronomy 10:17-21, which speaks of taking care of orphans and widows and all who are in need.
Deuteronomy 10:17-21:
17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. 18 He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. 19 And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt. 20 Fear the Lord your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name. 21 He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.
Trump couldn’t have enjoyed hearing about a God superior to him and showing no partiality nor accepting bribes. Especially a God who loves the foreigner without condition, and tells you to fear God and serve God (not Trump nor money) and take care of the foreigner.

I knew he sounded like a petulant child forced to sit through “church.”
“Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job!” Trump said. “She and her church owe the public an apology!”
Now I know why. After all, it was about what the nation needs; and in a Christian church service, that need was not presented as: Trump.

HARRUMPH!

And Trump wants the Bishop of the Cathedral to apologize?  My answer is on the same schoolyard level Trump would understand: You go first.

If a plea for kindness and empathy makes you furious, you might be a sociopath.
