MAGA Represented

I’m skipping the undignified behavior of Trump at the Carter funeral service in D.C. (he looked like a child forced to attend against his wishes) because the dignity of the service shouldn’t be about Trump’s churlishness. Elmo did not influence the election and his tweets don’t reach 1/3 of all Americans (or even 100 million people in the world). We need to stop making world-threatening monsters out of tiny people.

I’m not too persuaded that internet media “stars” are all that politically influential, either. The evidence is that most people had decided their votes early, and further, that this was an anti-incumbent election (as the last two were), and hardly a referendum on the popularity of Trump. Stop treating Trump’s every utterance as if it were the decided direction of the United States government (Congress has a large say in that), and begin to look at him as he presented himself at the Carter funeral service: a petulant, superannuated child whose sole interest is drawing attention to himself (something he couldn’t do at that funeral).

And since I brought the funeral up:
(I’m a Southern boy; I had a PaPa, too (the other spelling is phonetically correct, but no Southerner spells it that way).) We’re going to miss him, too. (I don’t want to think about Trump having the obligation to do this at Biden’s funeral, so may Biden be with us for many years yet. And all the people say: “Amen!”)
