They’ll Cavil On The Ninth Part Of A Nail*

Professor Vladeck isn’t sure what this means:

Sorry, wrong way to put it. He isn’t sure why the government is responding to discovery (so Judge Xinis knows whom to hold in contempt) this way,
Well, the government describes as a “false premise” that it “has been ordered to facilitate Abrego García’s release.”

(That’s *literally* what #SCOTUS held.)
It’s not about the ruling. It’s about the obstruction.

The government is stonewalling every step of the way. It’s a corporate lawyer’s tactic, to wear down the opposition. Obstruction and obfuscation in the trial court, opposition to appeals, more of the same back in the trial court again. Rinse and repeat.

This can end with the lawyers in contempt and even losing their local federal court license. That one can be removed under local rules, no long process required. So it’s a fool’s tactic that burns goodwill like a Hummer burns gasoline; but quelle surprise? 🤷🏻‍♂️  Ultimately it’s all Trump, isn’t it?

*I dunno. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I remember it from a pro se Petition by some guy pissed that Consumer Reports didn’t like his fireplace andiron design. Never did know quite what it meant (an iron nail? A fingernail?). I think he thought it sounded vaguely Shakespearean.
