The Mouse That...Didn't Roar

Let's see....

Elise Stefanek has been in the House of Representatives since 2014.  Chip Roy was elected to the House in 2020.  Prior to that he was on John Cornyn's staff, then became Ted Cruz's chief of staff.  Both wanted to be Chair of the House Republican Conference,  which:
is the party caucus for Republicans in the United States House of Representatives. It hosts meetings and is the primary forum for communicating the party's message to members. The Conference produces a daily publication of political analysis under the title Legislative Digest.

It's not a committee chair, it's not a whip position, and it's a "leadership position" only in that it's the party caucus for the House GOP.  So basically Elise Stefanek is now the Ronna Romney of the House GOP.

Shit, to hear Twitter tell it, Stefanek was gonna be fourth in line to the Presidency.  She's not even second in command to McCarthy.  Tell me again why I give a wet snap about this?

Except insofar as it proves people who gather 'round Ted Cruz are as egotistical as he is; and as despised by anyone else who knows them.  Oh, and that this whole story was so inside baseball it was wrapped around the core?

This is the "threat to democracy"?

And to the political pundits, I say:

Did you honestly think that stuff was ever anything but rube bait? It stands on the same level as "Critical race theory" and "intersectionality” on FoxNews. Nobody knows what it means (except a handful of academics), but FoxNews has assured its viewers these are words and phrases of which they must be afraid!  Same song, second verse.  I'd think you'd have figured that out by now.
