That it’s taken so long for so many ppl to realize that the apartheid billionaire might have held onto some racist ideas from his upbringing is yet another example of how the media failed us & allowed Elon Musk to accumulate the power he’s now wielding”I don’t think anybody much cared about Elmo’s racism because, basically, until Covid affected his factories, he was the guy who made electric cars and wanted to move to Mars and build “hyperloops.”
The hyperloop was all hype. He’s never put anybody, including himself, in so much as sub-orbit; and his cars suck; when they don't burst into inextinguishable flames.
But everyone hates him because of Twitter, where he finally let his racist flag fly. Nobody got as upset when he forced his employees to build his cars during Covid. Even when he moved the factory to Texas to avoid California public health laws (Texas had Abbott and Paxton so, no public health).
Most of this is on us, not the press. If they ever really served that role, it was in movies in the’40’s. But I'm pretty sure they became a handmaiden to power along about the era of "Citizen Kane." Which is pretty much what that movie is about.
