Circling The Drain Of History

 I appreciate a good “Red Scare” reference as much as the next guy, but:

Rudy says Biden is an Iranian spy: “He’s on Iran’s side and he’s on Hamas’s side. He is not on our side. He’s got a bunch of spies in his Admin. This guy is working for Iran. Why? Maybe because they’ve infiltrated his Admin the way the communists infiltrated FDR’s Admin.”

Germany invaded Russia in the June before the assault on Pearl Harbor in December. So by the time we entered the war the USSR was already an ally against the Axis powers. Does Rudy mean the New Deal was promoted by Communists? That’s quite the retrojection of post-war attitudes.*

And, what, Biden is FDR redux? I think that’s much more of a compliment than Rudy meant it to be.

Besides, if Biden’s on the side of Iran, he sure fooled all of Israel. Is this another one of those “Biden is a drooling old man/super genius international crook who can’t be caught” things?

Because I’m having a really hard time making sense of what Rudy is saying. I think the 5th Amendment is going to be his friend.

*Apparently it was a thing, fomented by antisemitism and Nazi sympathizers; so basically the better known story of King Edward and members of the British aristocracy who sympathized with Hitler, at least until Dunkirk, I guess (or Pearl Harbor, depending on the country). The connection to America isn’t surprising, really.
