Dismissing Agency



I'm just surprised the gun didn't "go off."

They do that, you know.  And knives stab people, while cars run people over, with no agency on the part of the handler of the knife, the driver of the car.

Somehow, guns get this removal from agency that absolutely no other object does.  Now we extend it to bullets?  When the gun's in your hand you're not really responsible for how it behaves?  Once the bullet leaves the gun, it's a free agent?
