Texas has one of the highest percentages of uninsured per population in the country. The Biden Administration is trying to force Texas to change that, by accepting Federal funds. I'm not holding my breath. The Lege has more important things to do.

And relying on the Texas Senate to stop the madness is not the most comforting vision of the future imaginable.

The Legislative session ends May 31, by which time the Lege must pass a state budget for the next two years.  The prospects of that budget including expanded funding for Medicaid are about as good as a snowstorm on the Gulf Coast in August.  But at least all the crazed killers in Texas will probably be able to “constitutionally carry” their murder weapons of choice, and the poor will stay in jail awaiting trial, where they belong.  The rich, of course, don’t belong in jail.  And aren’t likely to be where crazed people are shooting other people.

So all is well.
