(Alternatively, people like these ideas in the abstract; but in the concrete, maybe not so much.  It's the familiar touchstone from my childhood:  "I got nothin' against 'em, I just don't want my daughter to marry one!"  Abstract is always safe; concrete is always troublesome.)
