The Mouse That....Squeaked

MTG is completely incapable of doing any of this. She doesn't care. Follow the money.

This is all about fundraising.  Beats manning the phones (Representatives spend a large percentage of their time raising money for the next election.).

Although I can agree Rep. Waters would do us all a service by keeping her mouth shut until the trial is over.
She is not, after all, merely a private citizen.

  1. The idea that a trial should be thrown out because of a statement made outside of the courtroom that may have swayed the jury would mean that the only trials that were valid were those in which nothing was said by anyone. Lots of inflammatory things have been said in the media about George Floyd, lots of those within the courtroom by Eric Nelson definitely heard by the jury who may never have heard what Maxine Waters rashly said.

I think that judge and justice created means of getting a case thrown out or overturned is probably often if not mostly there to give a judge or justice, on appeal, an excuse to let someone off who they like or whose side they like.

I think that we're going to get to the point where the only way to have a justice system is to have a law that the media can't carry anything about a case until it's over. Either that or have a class of people who are studiously kept from ever hearing anything except what they hear presented in court.

Like so many things held to be sacrosanct trial by jury is no more reliable than the people on the jury are and the lawyers and judges who select them and that's a lot of room for trouble, intended and accidental, to enter into it. Sometimes trial by jury is made worse by letting one side or another get away with what sometimes prosecutors are allowed to and sometimes defense lawyers and their "experts" are. The defense experts in this case were appallingly dishonest.
