B) "As moderate and respectable a figure as you can find in the Trump orbit" is an entire mine full of salt, not just a grain.

Manchin went to the White House thinking the prestige of the job would keep the Trump stink off.  He was wrong.  This is like the Seinfeld episode where the valet parking Jerry's car has such BO Jerry has to sell the car; he can't get rid of the stink.

Manchin can't lose the stink.  He can't wash it off, and he knows it.  He's done.  ETTD.  QED.
