The Second Time As Farce

One of these "shows" is in Houston, which elsewhere in reporting on this story described, along with Dallas, as "Trump friendly."  No idea where that comes from, except maybe political money.  No doubt the rich donors live in Dallas or Houston, but all the major urban areas of Texas went for Clinton in '16, and for Biden in '20.  Major political donors are not going to be the ones filling seats in this arenas.

O'Reilly claims they've already brought in $7 million in ticket sales, but his veracity is no better than Trump's (Trump’s people say it’s $5 million. They report, you decide.) The picture in the tweet is for Orlando.  Per the article, no venue is reporting good sales for this event (although several musical events are already sold out).

The link for the Toyota Center seats in Houston for this looming debacle is here.

I'm guessing here, but it appears the greyed out sections are simply not for sale.  This doesn't show 35-40% sold, but it does show ticket prices:  $100 up to "$5500.00+".  I put that in quotes because I didn't add the "+".  I seriously doubt there are that many people in Houston, or in all of Texas, who are going to pay those prices to see Trump and O'Reilly on stage, jabbering for a few hours.  And enough people spread out between here and Dallas to fill up one venue?

This is a farce.

Tulsa redux is precisely what springs to mind.  Especially with trying to gouge the rubes in Dallas and Houston.  There aren't enough of them between the two metro areas combined, much less in one or the other. As George Conway pointed out: This is a circus with no attractions, just two side-show geeks.

  1. One thing is certain, at those prices it's not going to be a blue collar audience. Not that the media will notice that if they report on it.

O'Reilly having been a kept creature of the billionaire backed media seems to not realize that all acts get old and are less commercially viable and even a short period off the screen erodes the public demand for someone. Even the biggest stars fade fast. Trump asking those prices? With it being doubtful that he's going to retain his own businesses and properties and with no real prospect of regaining the presidencies, any rich people stupid enough to pay that kind of premium should be afraid their kids are going to get themselves appointed their guardians. Maybe that's why they're so hyped up about this Brittany gal.
