On The Imminent Collapse Of Western Civilization That Happened During Holy Week

So the news in Elon Musk World (where we all live just becuase it amuses him to allow us to) started off this way: That does not mean he is the only vote; nor the deciding vote. It also does not mean the state of Twitter has suddenly become a really fucking big deal. It is also to be noted Mr. Musk has been blocked from buying 15% of Twitter stock (his holding is 9%, per most reports), which means he won't soon acquire 51% and turn the whole thing over to Trump for shits and giggles.

One also has to consider he's just trolling Twitter because he's rich, and bored, and needs to be sure people are paying attention to him.

Obviously when I wrote this (sometime before Holy Week), Musk's place on the Board of Directors of Twitter was not already withdrawn.  Nor had Musk announced he was going to take over Twitter (which, fine, whatever, to the richest man in the world the whole world is a sandbox).  Already this morning (as I write, still during Holy Week), Musk has announced he will buy up Twitter but if his offer isn't accepted as is, he'll move on.  So: Seems about right.  And yes, he's pissing off a lot of people in Texas near his launch site, but they're brown people and nobody in Texas cares about them anyway how many oil wells do they own haw-haw! besides they're all gonna vote Republican soon WaPo told me so and if they don't who cares anyway they're brown people amirite?

.....

And then went quickly downhill, as if it could go any lower.  Well, of course it could. Objection, Your Honor! Assumes facts not in evidence. What impact does Twitter have now, except on the people that use it? And they are not coterminous with “society.”  Except maybe insofar as celebrities have followers, and Musk says they don’t post anything,  so where’s the beef?
Now why would you say that about “the average Twitter user”? One does wonder what harm Musk could do, ultimately, that hasn't already been done. This is where I remember, again, that Jeff Bezos took his billions and built a space rocket company that has only sent him into orbit, and dug a hole in a mountain in West Texas to build a 10,000 year clock no one will be allowed to see. While his ex-wife is engaged in responsibly giving away billions of dollars. And we're all told to admire Bezos and Musk. Huh.

And of course, we have to hear from the peanut gallery (no, not Parker Molloy):
Let's keep in mind there may be a reason Musk said his offer was "final" and would be withdrawn if not accepted (implicitly "immediately"):
And if it is the collapse of western civilization, it's because so few people recognize the game Musk is actually playing (he doesn't care about free speech or Twitter, IOW): He's just gaming the system:
Yeah; let’s put this guy in charge. Zoom zoom zoom

(Since this all started the major Saudi Twitter investor, with more shares than Musk, said he won’t sell to Musk, someone else bought an even larger share to block Musk, and the board of directors approved a poison pill to keep Musk away.

And then Easter intervened (as well as really important stories like Ukraine and Biden’s approval rating (one of them things is not like the other), so who knows who Musk is going to to troll now? Can’t we hurry up his move to Mars?)
