Dedicated to the proposition that St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ is a peculiarly American celebration.Dropkick Murphys ‘We Shall Overcome’, for the (Irish & American) day that’s in ithttps://t.co/qrDjUinFsN

And a fun fact: the pronoun in the song was originally “I.” Which, when I first heard, I thought wrong, and the familiar version more appropriate, more “inclusive.” But even inclusion can be the wrong direction sometimes. “I shall overcome” means it’s my responsibility. “We” places the responsibility in the corporate, where we can safely leave it until the rest of you catch up; or at least come around.
It’s not that one pronoun is right and the other wrong. It’s that one is more challenging than the other; and that might be a good thing.
I should have posted Patrick’s Lorica today; and now I’m sorry I didn’t.
