Texas relies on a small army of volunteers to man voting locations for early voting and in Election Day. If you limit the administration of elections to @election workers” elections will either grind to a halt, or you’ll have to hire a small army of such workers very quickly. And either keep them in the payroll, or hire and train a new group at least every two years.Wisconsin voters approved a pair of ballot measures Tuesday that will ban the use of private money in elections and require that only election workers can administer elections.

Both constitutional amendments were placed on the ballot by the Republican-controlled Legislature
And that's just the people you see. Consultants and voting machine company representatives and computer consultants and other people who are not "election workers" make elections work. If they can't be called on, who keeps the machinery greased, so to speak, and running smoothly?
Something tells me these amendments are going to be very unpopular in December.
