Know Your Audience

I guess they know their audience. This is a thing: people offended by the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Paris. Offended in the name of God, but not by the spectacle or the profligacy or the neglect of the poor in the obscene expense of the games (which never offends them), but by their ignorance. Of course. And just to show it's not all the politicians: Well, assuming Christians everywhere are as ignorant as this small group of clowns.🀑

Speaking of which:

Power matters, not people. Power is neat and clean and abstract, and doesn’t require engaging with persons. Power makes me think I’m in charge. People require time and care. Much easier to pursue power.

What the hell are they going to do about it, anyway? It’s France. You don’t like it, turn your TeeVee off. Better yet, get a fucking education.

I told you I don’t suffer fools gladly. That’s not a strength, it’s a weakness.
What would they say if they knew the athletes in the original Olympics were nude? The Olympics don’t really have anything to do with Christianity, and a feast tableau is not always a Eucharist. Try not to be so damned parochial.

This really isn’t complicated. The teachings of Christianity are that we need to take care of each other; not that God’s gonna get you if you don’t show some respect. I’m more offended by the people who want to tell me who is worthy of my concern.

  1. What's funniest is nationalist "chiristianity" a la Republican-fascism has everything more in common with French nationalist anti-clericalism than it does the Gospel of Jesus, the Epistles of Paul and James, etc. Trump holding a bible upside down and peddling an American nationalist edition of the KJV is more blasphemous than what they do at the stupid Olympics. I say that as someone who will stand second to no one in disdain for the Olympics and its gangster international committee and the local gangsters who host them.
