Donald Trump on Saturday made waves with his own fan base when he made an announcement about the Department of Energy in his upcoming administration.
Trump over the weekend announced that he would appoint James P. Danly, a retired U.S. Army officer who served two tours in Iraq, as United States Deputy Secretary of Energy.
@Rebelgirl, a self-described "conservative woman," had a problem with Trump filling the position at all.
"WE ONLY NEED A SECRETARY OF ENERGY, WE DONT NEED ASSISTANS, HELPERS, COFFEE AND DOUGHNUT DEPUTIES!!" she wrote. "SHRINK THE GOVERNMENT [Trump] STOP THE SPENDING OF OUR TAX DOLLARS!!"
She then added, "GIVING OUT POSITIONS LIKE THIS CREATES MORE CORRUPTION AND NEW MILLIONAIRES!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!"
@Hogweed, who promotes right-wing conspiracy theories, referenced Dominion Energy.
"So dominion can rape us more?" the user wrote Saturday.
@sethpatriot, who has said Trump showed Republicans the "way to win," called for an end to the Energy Department itself.
"Shut it down!" he wrote.
Following a similar trend, a Trump supporter called anotherMAGA said, "There are thousands of government agencies, bureaus, commissions, departments and offices."
"Most of all of these need to be closed. They are unconstitutional," they added.
Trump-supporting @TakebackGOP thought someone else deserved the job.
"What about Sarah Palin?" the user asked.
Similarly, another pro-Trump account, @LG4LG, asked, "Why are you forgetting Sarah Palin?"
"She has been there since day one for you. She would be perfect to handle opening up oil reserves in Alaska and stop supporting China owned companies like TikTok, just because they helped you," the user wrote. "Thank God that democrats and Republicans came together to stop China companies from purchasing up America!"
Another user who supported Trump had a problem with the appointee coming from a so-called "liberal university."Not a one of them knows what the DOE does.
The mission of the Energy Department is to ensure America’s security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions.
Our Leadership
As United States Secretary of Energy, Jennifer M. Granholm leads an agency tasked with maintaining a safe, secure and effective nuclear deterrent and reducing the threat of nuclear proliferation, overseeing the United States’ energy supply, carrying out the environmental clean-up from the Cold War nuclear mission, and the 17 National Laboratories. Not exactly the federal equivalent of the Texas Railroad Commission, or overseer of what’s left of the Seven Sisters (yeah, I’m that old). Clearly, then, we don’t need it, right?
Unsurprisingly, Trump doesn’t even understand that much:
"He served in my First Term as General Counsel, Commissioner, and Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where he won countless cases before the Federal Courts, and drove regulatory reform to ensure abundant and affordable energy for the American People," Trump wrote. "James earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Yale University, and his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School."I’m beginning to think government by social media is not what the Founding Fathers had in mind.

ReplyDeleteCome now, those guys wrote pamphlets whilst in the outhouse on the daily, sent them everywhere, and wrote more in response, ad infinitum.
