A) everybody in Afghanistan bailed, from the Afghan President to the lowest foot soldier; and
B)
Well, aside from the fact we never should have gone into Afghanistan under Bush/Cheney, you can't exactly blame them now for "withdrawing resources" before we'd "defeated the Taliban."Liz Cheney’s not wrong here but she left out one administration: the one led by her father, Dick and George W. Bush who ripped resources out of Afghanistan before fully defeating the Taliban or even getting Bin Laden (Obama had to take care of that job) so they could invade Iraq. https://t.co/AGzcOZRI5g

If we weren't going to defeat the Taliban in 20 years, we weren't going to do it before invading Iraq (which we also never should have done).
Nothing we did with our military force after 9/11 made any goddamned sense. It doesn't now, it didn't then; it never did. 20 years later and we still have faced that fact.
(*My grandfather had an old Edison windup phonograph. My brother has it now. The records were a half-inch thick and while the size of modern LP's, held one song per side. One I remember was "I Wasn't Scared, But I Just Thought, That I Had Better Go." Suddenly that comes to mind again. Nobody wants to say "We fucked up!" So they search high and low for somebody to blame for this inevitability. That's interesting, too.)
