I don’t think he’d know a “spiritual experience” if it bit him in the ass. (Pro tip: when someone else gets the bullet meant for you, especially if they aren’t your bodyguard, it’s not a sign of God’s favor. God doesn’t love Trump more than the man trying to shield his family. That’s so pernicious it’s blasphemous. And I think hardly anything is truly blasphemy.)
It will be interesting, though, if he doesn’t throw the crowd red meat but instead is a character from a Three Stooges short, completely changed by a blow on the head. What will MAGA think? They want their messiah to kick ass and take names. And if he’s too serene for that?
I don’t see a downside to this. He alienates, or at least bores his base; or he destroys this silly bit of gossip and the media pretends nobody ever said that.
